MEIA NOITE, percussionist, was born in Salvador Bahia, Brazil. In 1990 he was chosen to join the touring group Oba Oba which was the first ethno-music show on Broadway.
From Oba Oba he joined Sérgio Mendes and has been playing with him for almost twenty years.
He has since recorded with musicians including Airto Moreira, Jennifer Lopez, Alex Acuna, Giovanni Hidalgo, and Ricky Martin.
He is founder and artistic director of Só no Sacode, an ensemble of percussionists and brass players who perform annually at the Festa de Yemanjá in Bahia.
On February 2, 2009 Só no Sacode celebrated its tenth anniversary.
